More Sony NEX-7 specs emerge, expected price about Rs. 46,000

Sony’s NEX series, of what could be considered as Hybrid digicams, have been faring quite well. After their NEX-3 and NEX-5 devices, the next on the list was reported as the NEX-7, which so far, has been somewhat elusive on the official front, but has been making its presence known, nevertheless. From what photorumors.com says, the NEX-7 could prove to be quite a feature-rich camera.

Here’s what we can expect on paper -

  • a 24.3 MP Exmor sensor
  • ISO range: 100-16000
  • Full HD video recording
  • XGA OLED viewfinder
  • 3-inch TruBlack LCD display
  • Built-in flash
  • Battery life: over 400 shots
  • Magnesium alloy body
  • Face recognition functionality
  • Object tracking functionality
  • Advanced auto lock hot shoe
  • Auto lens aberration compensation for Sony lenses
  • Advanced Bionz imaging processor
  • Eye Fi compatibility

There has been no word on the official launch date of the NEX-7, but it is expected to be announced sometime in late October or November, as it could begin shipping in November. The rumored price is set at about Rs. 46,000 ($1000). That seems rather steep, if it’s true. However keeping the specs in mind, the big question is, would you opt for this or a full fledged DSLR that would easily fit in this price bracket? Let’s wait for the reviews.
